OTSEGO – State Rep. Eric Lucero visited Kaleidoscope Charter School located in Otsego last Wednesday to meet and discuss civics with several fourth grade classes.
“It’s always an honor to be invited to our local schools to meet with students,” Lucero said. “As a former educator myself I always enjoy helping the next generation learn and get motivated about their future.”
Three different classes joined together into the same classroom for the visit. Rep. Lucero began by giving a brief overview of who he was, his background, the process of running for elected office, the issues and priorities important to the local community, and the day-to-day responsibilities of a state representative.
“Students were very engaged and asked many questions on multiple topics including the three branches of government, governor veto and veto overrides, and the work involved as a state representative.”
The same group of fourth grade students along with several teachers and parents made a field trip to St. Paul the week prior to meet with Rep. Eric Lucero, visit committee hearing rooms, and tour the newly refurbished State Capitol.
